Tallahassee, Florida – 4/29/2010 – U.S. Senate candidate, Bernie DeCastro of the Constitution Party, qualified today in Tallahassee, Florida. As the U.S. Senate race tightens up here in Florida, this November promises to be a real nail biter.
DeCastro, who resides in Ocala, is a self-made man and local business owner in Marion County. As the most Conservative candidate in the Senate race and father of five, Bernie who believes in strict adherence to the U.S. Constitution wants to rebuild and restore the “Rule of Law” – our U.S. Constitution, as the Supreme Law of the Land.
Bernie is familiar with the rebuilding and restoration process because of his checkered past. He was paroled in 1984 and given a full pardon ten years later by Governor Lawton Chiles.
Today, Mr. DeCastro operates a 132-bed ‘work release facility’, under contract with the Florida Department of Corrections. Over the past two decades DeCastro has helped reduce the rate of recidivism in Florida by helping thousands of inmates and addicts rebuild and restore their lives. Audiences all over Florida have been inspired by DeCastro’s testimony of his faith in God and his deliverance from addiction and incarceration. When asked about his checkered past DeCastro quips “A vote for Bernie DeCastro is a vote for someone who has their prison time behind them.” DeCastro urges anyone who would like to know more about his checkered past to log onto his website at www.electbernie.
Bernie encourages everyone to get out and vote, as our Nation’s Founders…pledged their lives, their fortunes and their ’sacred oath’ to give us our freedoms that we are witnessing quickly slip away today. DeCastro says that ever since President Reagan left office in 1989, debt has rapidly increased, while freedoms have drastically decreased.
If elected to the U.S. Senate, one of my first priorities after working to undo all of the bad legislation of the current administration would be to fight for term limits of 12 years for the Senate and eight for the House of Representatives.
Marco Rubio and I are two conservatives running for the same U.S. Senate seat. I have repeatedly been asked, “What is the difference between you and Rubio?” Here is my answer.
Marco Rubio is 38 years old and I am 65. For the past 20 years of Marco Rubio’s adult life most of it has been spent as a student, a lawyer or a professional politician.
I am an entrepreneur and business man and for the past 20 years of my life I have developed a business which created over fifty jobs and put over 10 million dollars into Florida’s economy. I have dedicated the past 25 years to personally helping thousands of men and women caught in the vicious cycle of addiction, crime, incarceration and recidivism (including their families).
Marco Rubio takes special interest Money and Bernie DeCastro refuses to take special interest money.
Bernie DeCastro has lived in Marion County since 1984. For over two decades he has received statewide recognition as a leader in Florida’s diverse faith community and for his tireless efforts on the local and state level to reduce crime. Bernie is the father of five children ages 9 to 19 and he has a real passion to see that all of Florida’s children get the very best education.
