Tuesday night December 1st, 2009, Obama addressed the nation and finally announced his plans for the war in Afghanistan. Gen. Stanley McChrystal had had assured Obama that with 40,000 additional troops for a surge in he could win the war in Afghanistan. After months of “dithering” Obama gave him 30,000. It took Obama all this time to figure all of the political angles before he could make his decision. Such is the corrupt world of politics created by an absolute void of national leaders in our nation’s capitol. Nothing is ever decided on face value. In this case, the only decision should have been “what is the best decision which will save the most American lives and produce the best outcomes.” Instead, it is all about how to appease this group and that group and how to get into the best position to get the most out of the 2010 mid-term and eventual 2012 Presidential election.
To make matters worse Obama announces that we are going to begin to withdraw our troops in 18 months. There was no reason on earth to telegraph our intentions other than as Charles Krauthammer said on Fox News last night, “To throw a sop to his base.”

OK, this is something to think about in general first.
Why do they come up with such numbers? Why not in 36 month for instance? Why not in 12?
Are they trying to tell us there are certain military boundaries to support towards Karzai’s Government? Karzai will join Taliban as he stated if UN and/or USA will not stop sniffing and shoveling voters results (search on Yahoo).
So the Taliban will continue war on opium trades and Karzai if he wants to live will join it. The Southern opposition will even wipe Karzai himself as they did back in late 90’s once.
I think no matter how long the “coalition” will planning to pull military occupational forces from Afghan the people of the Afghanistan see where their own path to freedom laid.
May be some day they could produce another Nur Muhammad Taraki or Ahmad Shah Massoud to lead the country.
